Tourist Information
Ponteland has no Tourist Information office, however we hope this section of the website will be of assistance if you are visiting or passing through Ponteland. The nearest Tourist Information offices can be found at Newcastle International Airport, Newcastle city centre, Morpeth and Hexham. The contact details can be found on the Enjoy England web site. The following websites also have a wealth of information about the Northumberland area, Visit Northumberland, Visit North East England and Visit England.
We have many pubs, restaurants, bed & breakfasts in the area which can be found on the ‘Eating Out’ and ‘Where to Stay’ pages, and many attractions around Northumberland and Newcastle. From the fabulous beaches of Northumberland and North Tyneside to attractions like Alnwick Castle and Gardens (Location of one of the Harry Potter films), Hadrians Wall, Bamburgh Castle.
We will have links to many websites giving details of everything Northumberland, Newcastle and Gateshead can offer. They have been divided into sections such as Coast, historic, attractions etc, however some web sites we have linked to will be duplicated and appear under more than one heading as will the information on some of those web sites.
Petrol Stations
Be aware that at the present time there is no petrol station on the main A696 trunk road which passes through Ponteland. If you are travelling north on the A1M the last petrol station is Washington Birtley Services approximately 10 miles south of Ponteland. The next stations are Knowesgate some 8 miles north of Ponteland, Otterburn, a further 10 miles and Byrness service station a further 10 miles again, all of which are not 24hour. The first 24 hour station you will come to is at Jedburgh 50 miles north of Ponteland, so you can find yourself travelling over 60 miles on a major road without coming across a petrol station. However we do not have petrol rationing in Ponteland and the following list of petrol stations which are close to the main roads are all linked to maps to show their locations.
