Arrangements for the Ponteland Summer Festival of Pictures, Flowers and Music which will take place between 30th JULYand 6th AUGUST, are now well in hand.

A special “preview evening” has been arranged for the evening of Friday 29th July,at 7.30p.m., with a finger buffet and wine. Tickets are £6, and available from June tel: 01661 824938.
FLOWERS FOR THE FESTIVAL. The theme for the flower displays this year with the Tall Ships coming to the Tyne again, will be connected with the sea: The Creation, seafaring heroes, sea shanties, and the influence of the sea in our region etc.
Anyone wishing to sponsor a display in memory of a loved one, or to mark a special anniversary, or to provide a display is asked to contact Janet Cooper tel: 01661 822769.
REFRESHMENTS AT THE FESTIVAL. As usual the marquee will be erected in the grounds of St. Mary’s Church Hall, Thornhill Road, to offer morning coffee, ploughman’s lunches and cream teas which are so very popular.
Anyone who can help with serving or baking is asked to contact Julie Bell tel: 01661 824877
MUSIC AT THE FESTIVAL. Once again the music at the festival has been arranged by the extremely capable June Reed, and again the influence of the arrival of the Tall Ships, plus the 200th anniversary of Admiral Lord Collingwood and Nelson’s victory at the Battle of Trafalgar have had a strong influence.
