ABOUT ROTARY
Rotary, founded in 1905, is an organisation of business and professional people who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Today, 1.2 million Rotarians belong to over 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

The main objective of Rotary is service - in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's critical issues. The Rotary motto is ‘SERVICE ABOVE SELF’

Clubs meet on a regular basis, which allows members to build firm friendships. Every Rotarian has a right to attend any Club meeting, anywhere in the world

THE ROTARY CLUB OF PONTELAND
The Rotary Club of Ponteland was founded in 1964 with 27 members of the business community and is still going strong, 44 years later, with 31 members including one of the original founder members.

The Club meets Tuesday at 12.15 p.m. at the Ponteland Golf Club, except on the second Tuesday of the month, then the meeting is at 7.00 p.m. A two-course meal is served and normally there is a guest speaker who will cover a subject of particular interest. On the 5th Tuesday of a month the members gather with guests for a friendly meal at a venue to be arranged.

The Club has strong links with the local High and Middle schools sponsoring an annual “ Young Musician of the Year” and candidates for “Rotary Youth Leadership Awards”.

Membership of Rotary is open to active or retired business and professional persons who live or work in the town or surrounding area. New members are always welcome and if you feel that you might be interested in joining, please contact President:: John Gill – 01661 872433, Secretary: Stewart Blair – 01661 822367 or any Rotarian who will be happy to provide you with further information.
