What is Ponteland Community Middle School really all about? We believe the Ponteland Community Middle School should: ¥ offer all children within it education as an inalienable right ¥ provide high quality teaching and learning experiences for each child, every day ¥ take account of what parents and pupils expect of the school
We want to see: ¥ all children achieving success in a happy school ¥ equally good entitlements for all children irrespective of ability, disability, gender or ethnic origin ¥ continuous improvement in all that we do
A vision for Ponteland Community Middle School: We take as our vision the following paraphrase from St. Johns Gospel: we serve here in school simply . . . in order that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10)
Introduction The school prospectus provides information concerning the school, as required by the 1980 Education Act. Information concerning the general arrangements in Northumberland is given separately in a County education booklet, copies of which are available for parents of pupils who are starting or transferring schools next September. Parents resident within and without the schools catchment area who wish their child to attend the school may submit an application by completing a School Preference form and returning it to County Hall in Morpeth.
General Information The 600 pupils who attend the school normally come from two contributory first schools at Stamfordham and Darras Hall. They transfer to the Middle School at 9+ and follow a four-year course of study. At 13+ pupils transfer to Ponteland High School to continue their education. The school itself is accommodated in a modern building with facilities grouped around two internal courtyards as follows: 17 classrooms, some with specialist features as, for example, the music room; two small instrumental practice rooms; drama studio; a recently refurbished Y5 area; a well equipped ICT suite; library; dining room; sports hall; design and technology; art; pottery; food and textiles and two science laboratories. The administrative offices and a medical room are also newly built. Outdoors, of course, there are extensive games fields and a hard play area with tennis courts located on a very pleasant campus shared with Ponteland Community High School.
