Ponteland War Memorial Hall was paid for by public subscription and was built in 1922, in memory of those who were killed in World War I.  The names of local people who died between 1914-18 are shown on the War Memorial immediately outside the building; the names of those who died in World War II were added at a later stage.

Several additions and many improvements have been made since those early days and the Hall is now able to provide an excellent venue for many local organisations to hold their regular meetings, as well as “one off” social gatherings, domino drives, ceilidhs, markets, wedding receptions and many other events.  Various rooms are available and the Hall can accommodate from 2-300 people, ranging from a small group e.g. art class, embroidery, etc., to bookings such as charity events, the annual parish flower show, performances by Ponteland Repertory Society or meetings that require large capacity.  Further information can be gained by accessing our website: www.pontelandmemhall.co.uk

Over the last few years, largely thanks to grants provided by various organisations, we have been able to carry out refurbishment of the kitchen, ladies’ toilets, install new central heating, w.c. and improved kitchen facilities upstairs with stair-lifts and carpeting, as well as providing a w.c. downstairs and ramp to the Lounge for those with accessibility problems.  Our most recent improvement is the installation of double-glazed windows in the Main Hall thanks to sponsorship from various local organisations. As well as much improving the exterior and interior appearance of the Hall these new windows will provide better insulation and more efficient heat retention.

Many adult organisations use the Hall for regular meetings including Bridge and Floral Art clubs, Ponteland Senior Gentlemen, Lifeboat Luncheon Club, Over 60s, National Blood Service and Masonic lodges.  For younger people the Hall is also the venue for Kumon Maths and Literacy sessions as well as the Dansing Academy for those interested in drama.

Our licensee, Mr. Miv Chahal has considerable experience in the industry and is happy to discuss catering arrangements to suit many events, as well as being able to offer a wide variety of drinks.

The Hall is a Registered Charity, run by a Committee of volunteers. It is located just off the A696 and is therefore easy to find, as well as having its own car park which can accommodate approximately 100 vehicles. (Map)
