Ponteland Wheelbarrow Race 2007 Results
Yet again hundreds of spectators turned out on new years day morning to watch the annual wheelbarrow race organised by Ponteland 41 Club.
The “Lord Mayor” for the occasion this year was local businessman Philip Jackson who started the ball rolling with the junior race at 12 noon. The junior race was won by local brothers Daniel and Oliver Brown. It was Daniels’ second successive win having also won last year with partner Connor Haley.
The main race was won by Alan Redman and Andrew Pybus, both from Ponteland. It was third time lucky for Alan Redman who has participated in the race for the past two years, coming fourth and second. In second place this year was Ollie Phillips and James Welch with James losing his second consecutive win by just over a minute, having taken first place last year with his brother Marcus.
