The 19th Annual Duck race organised by the Rotary Club of Ponteland was held in Ponteland Park on Sunday 10th September 2006. The fine weather ensured a good crowd with plenty to entertain them. 3 Adult and 2 Children’s Duck Races and the Business Sponsored Boat Race were the main fund raising events.
Along with the Bouncy Castle, a regular feature, the Fire Brigade and the Army were in attendance with their vehicles to entertain the children. The Ice Cream van and Snack van also did a roaring trade.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the music provided by the fairground organ, probably an attraction not seen before by the younger members. It was music with a difference after the brass bands of previous years.
It all added up to a fun afternoon in the sun.
This Community event is used to provide money for Charity, which this year raised over £2,500, which will be distributed to OXFAM and other Charities that are supported by the Rotary Club.
